Stay on Track with Fitness Goals

I've been far from perfect this summer, but I do to try to keep a few things in mind that prevent me from completely falling off the fitness wagon. This site contains Amazon affiliate links. I make a small commission if items are purchased through my links.
#1- Don't Be Too Hard on Myself
I am a mom and teacher so the school year is BUSY! I have good routine, work out almost every morning, and pack healthy lunches on most days. I let myself enjoy my time off and this includes eating a little bit extra and missing a few workouts. There's always time to get back on track, don't be too hard on yourself.
#2- Walk
The last thing I want to do is sit in my basement on a stationary bike or use the elliptical. The weather is nice...so I walk. I intentionally walk as much as I can. I am that person that parks far away at the grocery store (my husband doesn't like that) and will skip taking a ride on the golf cart to the lake just to put in a few extra steps. I always go for 10,000 but feel even better when I can get 15-20,000 steps in on a summer day.
#3- I Play
I certainly love my time with my butt on a beach chair, but I try to get up every once in awhile (my watch helps remind me) and try to move. I swim with my kids, (even though I don't always want to) play catch with my son, play bean bags, or find something else where I can just get up and move. Burning something is better than burning nothing.
#4 Water
I may have a bad meal or two, skip those workouts, but I drink a lot of water! I love my Iron Flask bottle. It will keep ice water cold all day and I can easily drink a gallon or more of water when I fill this up!
#5 Work Out with What You Have
I'm not going to lie, I have a pretty nice set-up at home with weights, machines, etc. I also spend a lot of time away from home in the summer at hockey camps for my son and at the lake. I don't have much for equipment, but I do what I can with what I have. I get those walks in and lift the lighter weights that I do have. I also do exercises that need nothing like planks and stretches because it is better than nothing! Exercise bands are easy to travel with and offer some resistance training, which I love.
Enjoy your summer, don't be too hard on yourself, try to sneak in some movement when you can, do what you can with what you have, and drink water!
